Murrisk, that brought on goosebumps, you described it so vivdly.JDP too.I remember "learning" how to read at school, but it was my sister Eileen who took me past "see Spot run" or some other 3 word sentence. In the Junior section,I read everything from the Bobbsey Twins to anything written by the prolific writer Enid Blyton before moving on to to the Adult section. This was definitely my escape from the humdrum and reading still is,as I would rather read a good book than waste my time on Ally McBeal or such shows.Every Saturday after the usual Saturday jobs were completed around the house,up to the library. It was also a social event, running into friends there although no talking allowed, whispering was all right.I got my first taste of genealogy there when I looked up my last name and the maiden name of my mother in a big reference book of names.I have been fascinated ever since.
