Yes indeed Thomas Murphy was, among other things a well known coffin maker. He made them in his workshop in the yard of Burleigh House. Seemingly, he could not keep up with the demand around 1918, when there was an epidemic called the Great Flu. I don't know much more about it, but no doubt Murrisk will be able in his own intrepid way to shed some further light on this? Now I'm not suggesting for one moment that said Murrisk is as old as that, but he does have a knack for uncovering little bits of local history now and then.
