Good Health to The Irish climbers ascending AND descending "The Mother Mountain" or as Sodom Insane would say the Mother of all Mountains. Did you know that the climate there only allows you to climb in the Month of May So there are several climbing expeditions going on at the same time. Any way we wish them a safe descent. If you haven't read "Into Thin Air" yet. ?????. As you know they are celebrating fifty years after Edmund Hillary and Dr. Fuchs climbed Everest for the first time. One hot sunday afternoon; Shortly after this world wide event; My Father decked out myself and Noel Cawley in big boots sweaters womens furs, ballyclava's, glove , and had us pull a tobogan loaded down with fake supplies as if we were mushing across the antartic on the way to the pole instead . Yoe see; Perkins carnival was in town and had sponsored a dress up masquarade party to parade around town and then arrive a the carnival grounds in the military barracks for the choosing of the winner. It was a scorching hot day, as Noel and I, sweating bullets, pulled this home made wooden tobogan with iron runners and loaded down with a hundred pounds of rubbish. I can still see us scraping around the MAll .We were proud of our special award along with two ten bob notes for most original float! .
