Your post brought big Pat back to mind.He made a daily trek to Smiler`s land at Garryduff via Newtown, Marian Row and Bridget`s Crescent. He wore an open neck white shirt, hobnail boots and a leather belt skirted his huge girth. He always had one of those s curve pipes with a hinged lid hanging from his mouth.
I can`t recall the Quinn shopkeeper you mention.
The Erris was once owned by Paddy Regan of The Great House. The was an elevated ballroom to the rear. I think Mrs Langan gave ballet lessons there.
