Between the Erris Hotel and Hughie McGartland's there was a grocery shop run by a man called Quinn. He may have been a brother of the blacksmith Austie Quinn. Also there was a house next to Sean Kilcoyne's we used to call *The House of Commins" because a big fat man called Pat Commins was a resident there. Pat was employed by Smiler Murphy and milked his cow(s).
An old decrepit-looking lady called Bridgie Lappard also lived in this house if I'm not mistaken. Incidentally, I've never heard of Bridgie's surname anywhere else - does anyone have any information about this lady?
