I knew Con Acre very well. He was a well-built chap, a star on the local Gaelic team. He emigrated in the late 1940s (courtesy of De Valera) and later opened a pub in London called 'The Field.' He later returned to Ireland and purchased a little cottage in Connemara which he called 'Con of the One Hundred Battles.' He now spends his days swapping yarns with the locals and drinking poteen. Thinks the Mayo team is terrible, wouldn't kick snow off a rope. That's our Con Acre, nice chap really,
