I never attended any of the whist drives in Castlebar,but learned to love the game as a student nurse in Dublin.In fact you could say we were probably addicted in much the same way I am addicted to this machine.This brings to mind a very good friend from those days who too loved the game,Jac (Jess) Murphy from Dublin who died way before her time.I went on to play bridge and have not met anyone since who plays whist.Maybe if they have a "Hop" in the tennis Pavilion before they tear it down,they could also have a wrist drive for those of us who cant "hit the night fandangle" anymore.
