Castlebar community web site
This site comes to you courtesy of a voluntary community effort - apart from basic ISP charges - all the layout, coding, imagemaps, digitisation of photographs etc. is done here in "downtown Castlebar" out of sheer enthusiasm. Even the more exotic stuff like realaudio has been generated free of charge without the help of expensive consultants. All in keeping with the community-based philosophy behind Castlebar's Information Age Town bid which generated an enthusiastic crowd of some 5000 people (Garda figures) on the Mall on August 25th to meet the Telecom Competition Judges.

Castlebar wants web site contributions!
Many of the regular items are e-mailed to the webmasters in HTML form ready for us to upload - e.g. the parish newsletter comes in from the Presbytery every Saturday. We now have a number of sporting and community organisations updating their own web sites on a regular basis. Check out the updates page to see the most recently updated sites.

For those still a bit mystified by HTML and web pages it is actually quite easy to generate basic web file pages by using the "save as" option in your word processor (especially if you have Office 97) and then selecting HTML as the file type if available. A good second choice is to save your file as an RTF file and then e-mail it to us - we can quickly convert it to HTML and put it up under an appropriate heading - no charge if it is Castlebar related. If you want to contribute material but are not sure about all this HTML lark then call in to the Information Age Centre on Ellison Street during the week - We will even take stuff scrawled on the back of an envelope with a crayon if it's worthwhile.
