Castlebar Men's Shed Project took another major step forward as the committee opened the doors of their  newly secured premises to the general public.

Over the last few months the committee have been working hard to get this project up and running.  They secured Unit 4, Moneen Enterprise  Centre to rent  as a temporary home for the shed. Last night they held their first meeting in their new premises. Chairman, Michael Mc Tigue welcomed the men who gathered to show their interest and support. Included in the gathering were Councillors, Michael Kilcoyne, Blackie Gavin, Brendan Heneghan, Ger Deere and Harry Barrett. Together they look forward to a bright and busy future.

The shed as it is needs a bit of work so  a clean -up , painting, decorating morning has been arranged for Monday next July 16th  at 10am , so if you wish to lend a hand  please come along and bring a paintbrush and a mug with you! Let us not forget that the kettle is the most important tool in the shed!  Castlebar Mens Shed is a place for men to gather, to, yes, engage in meaningful projects but also to have a chat and laugh together.

As stated above the premises secured is temporary as renting on a continual basis will be very difficult financially on the shed. The committee members are calling on the people of Castlebar to do what they can to see this project reach its true and full potential. So if there is anybody out there who can help with a permanent  rent free premises or is in the position to sponsor a months rent for the project, the committee would be  delighted to talk to you. Also we are looking for equipment, tools, furniture, wood, metal etc. So if you can help in any ways please get in touch.

The project is attracting new members all the time and has an ever growing following on Facebook. If you are interested in becoming involved give us a buzz anytime.

Castlebar Mens Shed would like to acknowledge the continued support of the HSE, the Town and County Councils, Le Cheile FRC and the local businesses and general public who continue to support us along the way.

Chairman Michael Mc Tigue would like to acknowledge the hard work and sheer dedication, determination and support of the committee, Patsy Mc Hale, Rod O Connor, James Mc Ardle, Iarla Mongey Sean Horkan, Michael Cosgrave and Ronan O Malley, who are making this idea become a reality.
For further information or to offer support please contact Michael on 0863757648 or Patsy on 0834024765.
