"Men don`t talk face to face, they talk shoulder to shoulder".

The concept behind men's sheds is to provide a safe, secure, friendly and open environment where men can meet and engage in positive, productive experiences that in turn will enhance their overall health and well-being . Men by nature are task oriented and enjoy engaging in activities together. Men work together shoulder to shoulder that's where the phrase came from men don't talk face to face they talk shoulder to shoulder. Men's Sheds also provide an arena for companionship and friendship. If all that you are looking for is a cuppa and a friendly chat drop in there no pressure. Castlebar Men's Shed is a community based, non commercial organisation.

While there may be many projects on the go in any shed at any given time, it has been said that the most important tool in the shed is the "Kettle" echoing once more the importance that friendship and companionship plays.

Men's Sheds are open to all men from 18 ......... there is no upper age limit. Be you retired, out of work or simply have time to spare you are most welcome at a Men's Shed. In a time when Ireland is in the grip of recession and doom and gloom is all around Men's Shed are a positive glimmer of light in any community. Castlebar like any other community has seen huge changes over the years and many find themselves with voids in their life. Men's Sheds provide an opportunity to help us help ourselves, all we need is you!

So if you are interested in learning more about Men's Shed and perhaps getting involved, come along to the next meeting you will be more than welcome on Monday 30th April at 8.00pm in the Le Cheile Community & Family Resource Centre, Tucker Street, Castlebar For more information contact Le Cheile Community & Family Resource Centre 094 9025126 or Michael Mc Tigue on 086 3757648, or Rod O Connor 087 7436107.
