The Guarantee, is the forthcoming movie from Wildcard Distribution, which recreates the drama surrounding the most significant moment in modern Irish history; the bank guarantee of 2008. Directed by Ian Power (The Runway) and starring Love/Hate's Peter Coonan, David Murray (Amber), Orla Fitzgerald (The Wind That Shakes The Barley), Morgan C. Jones (Vikings), and Gary Lydon (Calvary) the film charts the origins of that pivotal decision and follows developments through the peak of the boom to the beginning of the bust.
On the night of the 30th of October, we're running a special live event in which 18 cinemas nationwide, including Castlebar, will host a screening of the film followed by a live Q&A hosted by Matt Cooper with a panel including director Ian Power, writer Colin Murphy, Irish Times journalist Una Mullally, and former politician and broadcaster Ivan Yates. The Q&A will be broadcast via satellite to all of the participating cinemas and audiences will be able to interact with the panel and pose questions through a special live Twitter feed.
We think it's going to be a unique and fun evening, and we're trying to get the word out as much as possible, especially to the cinemas outside Dublin that are taking part. We're also keen to get a knowledgeable and opinionated audience at each screening, who can contribute to the debate and make the evening that bit more interesting. We would really appreciate any publicity you can give the event, even if it's just a tweet (#TheGuarantee) or a Facebook post.
