This is going to be one crazy weekend for Castlebar in sport. The junior men are involved in the national cup finals weekend, Mayo begin their National League journey, there is a very important weekend for the rugby players of Castlebar, Westport and Ballinrobe in the Connacht Junior League and if I forget anything then I am truly sorry but there is so going much, I think I've got a headache (where's my asprin???).

Let me begin at the beginning (to quote a certain Mr Iglesias, the older one) the junior men of Castlebar take to the court this Friday night in the national arena in Tallaght to take on the mighty Notre Dame in the semi final of the national cup. Its gonna be a busy weekend for these guys. If they happen to win this, the final is on the following Sunday Morning. Then it's up to Tallaght once again on Tuesday for the schools final. Do these guys ever get any rest??? Throw in is at 6.45 on Friday evening and if you are a C'bar person reading this in Dublin, then get over there and lift the roof!! If you cannot get to the Arena then log on to castlebar.ie where CRCFM will be bringing the game live from 7pm. You can tune into 102.9fm if you live around the castlebar area and a fair few places in the county are picking them up too.

In Gaelic games, John Maughan's Mayo are in action in McHale park as they begin the national football league against Peter Ford's Sligo. Should make for an interesting game and will draw a large crowd. If you want latest news then tune into Mid and North west radio for news on that game or log into www.mnwr.ie. The first game of any competition is important and a large crowd will be out there for this one. Throw in is at 2.30.

The rugby fan will not feel left out as Castlebar, Westport and Ballinrobe all have vital games in the league. Castlebar travel to Monivea while Westport face Buccaneers at home. Ballinrobe are the surprise of the season so far, still unbeaten in the league (like Castlebar) and they can remain so if the dispose of OLBC of Galway. Castlebar and Westport both need wins to stay in contention but it is the beginning of a crazy couple of weeks for Castlebar as they take on Monivea, Gort AND Sligo. The three top teams in the division.

Soccer fans have not much this weekend from a senior point of view but there are several underage cup games taking place, sadly the Eircom u-21 adventure comes to an end for this season as they take on Derry city in the Brandywell on Saturday afternoon. But let me remind you that the Oscar Traynor Cup adventure is alive and well and coming to a pitch near you soon!

So there you have it, I know there are probably events taking place in other sports and if you want yours mentioned the drop a line to www.castlebar.ie and they will do the rest. And remember you can stay in touch with ALL events on local radio and press this weekend. ENJOY!!!
