CCI in conjunction with Smart Telecom PLC and McGovern PR are running an excellent PA/Executive Secretary of the year award. This has been running very successfully in conjunction with Dublin Chamber of Commerce for the past two years and is now being opened nationally to all chamber member companies. Further details and nomination forms are available in the chamber office.

Castlebar Tidy Towns are holding their annual awards ceremony this Friday night in the Traveller's Friend Hotel. Once again a good night is promised at what most be the best-attended community event in the Castlebar calendar.

Remember October 22nd - 26th is European Safety Week with the emphasis this year on "Preventing Accidents in the Workplace".

Why not visit the Health & Safety Authority's website www.hsa.ie for further information and a complete range of useful publications.

The Mayo People of the Year Awards 2001 were launched recently. Why not nominate an individual or an organisation from the community that you feel has made an outstanding contribution at local level. Nomination forms are available in the chamber office. Closing date for nominations is Nov. 2nd.

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control our Euro Workshop has been deferred and will now be held on Wednesday night 28th November. This event will have special emphasis on the effect for retailers and will provide hands on experience of dealing with dual currency. Booking forms will be available closer to the date.

Remember our next meeting is our AGM. If there are any issues that you feel should be policy issues for the Chamber of Commerce for the coming year now is the time to tell us.

In the Community Access Centre in the Chamber of Commerce a new initiative has now started under the www.castlebar.ie/newsetc/cait/ Online training software has been installed on a number of the computers in the centre. This programme is aimed specifically at those who would not normally have access to computers or IT resources.

Would you like to reduce the amount of paper in your office? Then receive the monthly chamber mailing by e-mail.
