The Castlebar site has been brilliant for keeping me in touch with what is going on at home. It would be great if there was some way I could buy local things online e.g. Westport pottery, Tayto and tea to be sent overseas!! etc!! Keep up the good work

We are really glad that the site is helping you to stay in touch. We would love to make it possible to sell local products online, we have done a lot of research into this area and have amassed quite an amount of knowledge. The fact is that we don't have the people or the funding to get it off the ground. It's funny that you should mention Tayto, we approached them for sponsorship but they informed us that, as they could not ship their products overseas, there would be little point in them advertising on our site. Perhaps we should go back to them again now that we know that 69% of our visitors actually come from Ireland.
Is there any particular brand of tea that you crave? Perhaps we can get in touch with the manufacturers for you or perhaps there's a local shop that would be interested in shipping tea and crisps abroad. Here's John Hanley's web address why not email to see what he can do. If there is enough demand I'm sure there will be a supplier. Try www.lisibach.ie for locally made Connemara Marble jewellery and www.create-a-plate.ie for a neat idea in custom Irish car plates - both with secure online direct-to-the-bank credit card acceptance facilities.
