Really Old Stuff! (2001)

Archives

A chance to meet the new (and old) members of the club. Photos taken on a recent club night. The numbers attending the club on Friday night are quite impressive - badminton is alive and well in Mayo.

Two of the stars of the Mayo Close Competitions in Swinford were Rachel McGreal (Under 17) and Sinead O'Donaghue (Under 11). They wouldn't be able to achieve at the highest level without the support of their parents. We, at the club, are very grateful for their support at all times and for providing transport to competitions, without hesitation, when called upon.

There was a good turnout for the competition, which was held in Swinford and was organised by Michael Kearney from the Ballina club. Rachel McGreal was our star of the day once again and seems to be getting stronger as she continues. There was great badminton played throughout the day with nailbiting finishes in most of the matches. The mixed doubles final was a very tight match going to the very final point in the third set. Other good performers were Karen Kyne, Laura O'Brien and John Murray. We hope to keep you up to date on all the competition news on this page. As the season has only begun there is little to report as of yet. As soon as we have competition news we will of course bring it to you.
