The first quarterly club meeting open to all club members will be held in the Welcome Inn Hotel on Friday 6^th April at 9 p.m. As there are a number of important developments to report on, all club members are asked to make a special effort to attend.

The club has completed the publication of a new quarterly newsletter which will be circulated next week.

In response to the huge demand for ladies football in Castlebar, a meeting has been arranged in the Welcome Inn Hotel on Wednesday 4^th April at 9 p.m. to attempt to form a team. If anybody is interested in playing or in helping out, please come to the meeting.

The seniors played Corofin in a challenge game at the weekend.

Castlebar maintained their good start to the season with a second win in the league when they travelled to Ballycroy last Sunday and defeated the home team. Castlebar led at half time by 0-7 to 0-2 and ran out easy winners in the end. Best for Castlebar were Brian McLoughlin, Timmy Byrne, Liam Raftery, James McGovern, Paul Flanagan, Seamus Marrinan, Keith Gillick and Brian Healy.

Next weekend the senior team play Knockmore on Sunday in a rearranged league fixture. This is their first league outing of the season.

Next weekend the junior team have no league game.

Our minor team play Moy Davitts in the first round of the league on Monday 2^nd in McHale Park.

The timetable for the booking of the top pitch has been finalised and is available in An Sportlann. All team managers have been allocated their training times. If any team manager wishes to swap times with any other team, the same procedure applies as last year i.e. contact the appropriate team manager. If anybody wishes to book any other times, you should contact the Park Manager Joe McCabe at 087 6684737.

Closing date for membership is April 30^th. Have you paid your membership yet? Membership is only £10 for both adult and juvenile players and for non-playing members. Membership forms for senior players / adult members are available from John Brennan @ 22966 or James Rocke @ 25019.

The total prize fund is £75,000 plus a car. The first draw takes place on April 25^th. Time is running out. The Connacht Under 21 football final between Mayo and Sligo will be played in McHale Park on Good Friday 13^th April. Time to be finalised.

Castlebar play Tooreen in Aughamore in the first round of the Genfitt Cup on Saturday next at 6 p.m. As defending champions, Castlebar will be anxious to make a good start to the campaign.

Senior: Monday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. in McHale Park.

Under 14: Wednesday 7 p.m. and Sunday morning at 12 noon.

Under 12: Saturday 1 p.m. at the all weather pitch in Celtic.

Due to the large numbers of children involved, a registration session for under 12 and 14 players will be held in An Sportlann on Friday 6^th April next from 6 - 7 p.m. Parents are asked to come along and pay membership during this time. It is important that all players are registered and covered by proper insurance before any matches begin. Members of Bord na Nog will be available during this time to talk to parents and to explain the details of the additional voluntary insurance available to all players. Membership is only £10 (single), £20 (family) for the year. The additional voluntary insurance is £10 per player.

The annual flag day for Bord na Nog will be taking place around the town on Saturday April 14^th. Members of Bord na nOg are asked to make themselves available on the day for a few hours. Any parents who are willing to help out should contact Brendan O'Hara at 23485. Your support would be appreciated.

Training for the under 16 team resumes this Tuesday evening in McHale Park at 6.30 p.m.

Training for the under 12 team continues next Saturday in McHale Park at 11 a.m. All players are asked to bring their football boots and extra clothing in case the weather is poor.

Next week training continues indoors on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in De La Salle Hall, Newport Road. New members are always welcome. It is advisable that players are eight years and upwards.
