Castlebar Collection for Disaster Relief Materials for Turkish Earthquake

The appeal below met with a wonderful response on Saturday 21 August. Between 11 am and 4 pm - three collection points succeeded in raising thousands of pounds worth of goods for immediate shipping to Turkey courtesy of the people of Castlebar. Our target of filling 10 Aquaboxes has been exceeded beyond all expectations. While only a drop in the ocean, we hope that the goods collected will help individual Turkish families in reestablishing their lives following the major catastrophe which has befallen them.

Thanks to everyone who contributed goods or cash. Every penny will find its way to Turkey as no overhead costs are involved. Thanks to CRCFM and MWR radio for their extensive coverage and this contributed significantly to the success of the effort. A particular thank you also to Castlebar Cultural and Heritage Society who donated their spot to Rotary at both Dunnes and Supervalu for the day.
