Castlebar continues to thrive and grow as a business town to the benefit of
the business commpunity. There are, however, a number of challenges facing the
town which have to be addressed in order to ensure that the town will continue
to prosper in the future.
Some of these challenges include:
| Adequate car parking | Proposed car parking charges |
| Traffic management | Access to Castle Street Car Park |
| Street Lighting on Main Street | Access roads to the town |
| Development levies | Rates increase |
| Waste management | Refuse charges |
| Pedestrianisation | Town enhancement |
| Derelict buildings | Clean environment |
| Adequate infrastructure | Balanced retail development |
| Taxi ranks | Loading bays |
| Town Development Plan | Christmas lights |
| Falling manufacturing employment | Business training needs |
| Crime and vandalism | Detailed map of the industrial
estates |
The Chamber of Commerce is fully committed to meeting these challenges but to
do so it requires the full support of all the business community.
A meeting is being held on Thursday 3rd March 2005 at 8:30 pm in the Imperial
Hotel, Castlebar. The purpose of the meeting is to ascertain the support of the
business community for the work of the Chamber of Commerce and to outline how
the Chamber proposes to meet the above challenges.
You can show your support by attending the meeting. If you are unable to
attend but wish to support the Chamber Commerce in this important work please email us with your contact
details.
