Joe Kennedy is new Chairman at Knock Airport
Mr. Cathal Duffy resigned as the chairman of Knock Airport after ten years recently and last week Mr. Joe Kennedy was elected as the new chairman. Mr. Kennedy acknowledged the great work Mr. Duffy has done over the past ten years for the airport. He said it was a great honour to be chosen for this job and that he sees great potential for the airport.

Miraculous bus blaze escape for West Mayo students
Last Thursday, students from the Sancta Maria College in Louisburgh and the Sacred Heart College in Westport had a narrow escape when the bus they were travelling in went on fire on the Tuam-Galway road. The students were travelling to the Connaught Track and Field finals when the bus burst into flames. Luckily all passengers on board the privately owned bus managed to get off the bus before it caught fire. Some of the students personal belongings were destroyed but the students, two teachers and bus driver were uninjured.

Foreign anglers boost tourism industry drive
The four nations angling competition was held last weekend on Lough Conn. The fishing could have been better according to Mr. Vincent Roche, Chief Officer of the North-Western Regional Fisheries Board, however it wasn’t as bad as what might have been expected. The anglers from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales were happy with the fishing and there was hope that the lake might be recovering.
