MWR retains radio licence
Mid West Radio (MWR) has been successful in renewing its licence for a further 10 years. The decision of the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) to allow the station to continue on air comes as work on the construction of a new 1.3 million euro headquarters in Ballyhaunis is under way. Coast FM, a Castlebar Consortium had also applied for the licence and both organisations outlined their proposals at an Oral Hearing in July.

Rose Mindy gets married
Former Rose of Tralee, Luzverminda ‘Mindy’ Sullivan (25) wed boyfriend, Patrick Flannelly in a glittering ceremony on Saturday. Patrick, from Moneen, Castlebar, a quantity surveyor, was Mindy’s escort in her famous Tralee win 4 years ago. They had been going out for some years previous to that.

Support Employment Network Launched
Disability need not be a barrier to employment in Mayo. Some 5% of those working with the Mayo County Council are people with disabilities. Private firms are beginning to take on more and more disabled workers as they have found people with disabilities to be industrious, cheerful and reliable employees. The drive was launch by Work Web West a supported programme for people with disabilities.
