Where are all the Men?
A shortage of men may lead to the cancellation of the biannual Clare Island Singles Weekend. The festival is due to take place on September 20th-22nd, and is aimed at single men and women in the 35-65 age group. Festival organiser, Donal O’Shea is inundated with female entrants, but unfortunately so far there are “far too many women in relation to men”.

Mayo Centenarians to be Honoured
Mayo County Council is set to honour people who reach their 100th birthday, as well as other significant landmarks in their lives. The Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Mr. Tim Quinn, has requested that the council also honour couples who reach their 50th wedding anniversary. This proposal is set to appear on the council agenda within the coming months.
