Stark warning for Mayo publicans
Publicans in Mayo have been warned that they will face closure orders of up to 30 days if they continue to serve alcohol to underage teenagers. The warning comes just after the Garda Siochana in the county secured their fortieth closure order in just eighteen months for sales to underage. The Mayo figure is higher than any other county in the country.

Health Board chief denies latest cut–back claims
The CEO of the Western Health Board, Dr Sheelagh Ryan, has moved to dismiss claims that the Board is planning a new wave of cut-backs as its financial situation worsens. Members of the Board expressed total dissatisfaction at the growing waiting lists, particularly in the area of Orthodontic treatment. A recent report revealed there are 1,100 children awaiting orthodontic treatment in the Western Health Board region, with some patients waiting up to 4 years.

Mayo’s Millennium Trees success
The People’s Millennium Forests Project is one of Ireland’s biggest and most successful Millennium projects. The first phase of this ambitious project has been successfully completed. The trees planted for households in Mayo are growing at Tourmakeady Woodland in Mayo; the walkways, signage, car parks and picnic areas are in place.
