Anger over toll road proposal
Road activists and those involved in transport in the West of Ireland have expressed anger over the fact that the proposed M4 extension between Kilcock and Kinnegad will be constructed and operated as Ireland’s first Toll road. Construction on the new 24-mile stretch of motorway is expected to start next Spring.

Gardai Refute “Drunk Judge” Rumour
Gardai in Mayo have moved to quell a rumour in circulation alleging that a judge working in the county was arrested for driving while drunk. The Gardai went as far as issuing a statement last Monday that there was no substance to the rumour and that “Gardai have not stopped or arrested any judge in connection with drink driving”.

Dail EU Committee to meet in Castlebar
The first ever meeting of the ten-person Dail European Affairs Committee to be held outside of Dublin will be held in Castlebar on January 31st. The meeting was announced by Deputy Enda Kenny TD, Leader of the Opposition, during a media briefing in the town at the weekend.
