CAMP West Emergency Centre Delay
An industrial relations dispute in the Western Health Board has delayed the opening of the hi-tech CAMP emergency despatch centre for the West of Ireland. While the technology has been in place for many months the system is lying idle while the long drawn out negotiations proceed. It was unclear from the report what the precise nature of the industrial dispute was but members of the Western Health Board were clearly unhappy about the long delay.

Museum of Country Life's 46,000 Visitors
The National Museum of Country Life at Turlough has clocked up 46,000 visitors since opening to the public on September 10th. Having also won the prestigious title of 'Museum of the Year 2001' it augurs well for the future of the new £15M facility at Turlough. In addition to viewing the 50,000 objects of which 1600 are on display at any one time there has been a very good attendance at workshops and lectures at the Museum. Many school tours, active retirement groups, special interest cultural tours, heritage studies and archaeologists have visited as groups as well as family groups. Many hotels in the West are also directing tourists to the museum. Admission is free and you can email the museum for details.
