Passion for the World
Castlebar Chamber of Commerce has been chosen as the co-ordinating organisation in the West for the Vodafone Passion for the World Around Us Awards. These awards aim to acknowledge people in our society who have made a positive difference to their community. The awards will be held on a quarterly basis and each regional winner will be presented with a specially commissioned silver sculpture exclusively designed by renowned Irish artist Seamus Gill and a Vodafone Passion for the World Around Us Awards certificate. Nomination forms are available in the Chamber Office, Spencer St, Castlebar or in the Vodafone Store, Main St, Castlebar. Nominations can also be submitted on line by logging on to http://www.vodafone.ie/aboutus/csr/society/awards/index.jsp . The closing date for the first quarter award is Monday September 15th. Spokesperson for Castlebar Chamber Carmel Dooley says the chamber are delighted to be associated with the Vodafone Passion for the World Around Us Awards as it gives all of us a chance to honour the many individuals in our community who strive to improve the world in which we live.
Information Night
Castlebar Chamber of Commerce will hold an Information Night in the Welcome Inn Hotel, Castlebar on Wednesday 10th September at 8.30pm. The evening is for chamber members and members of the public who are interested in learning about the Chambers’ activities. At the meeting the Chamber will announce details of the forthcoming Shopping Festival which will be held in Castlebar in early October
Black and White Ball
Castlebar Chamber of Commerce will host "The Black and White Ball" in the Welcome Inn, Castlebar on Friday 10th October. Proceeds from the evening will go to Cancer Action Mhaigh Eo. This recently formed group aims to raise funds for a Sentinel Lymph Node Mapping Device - a vital piece of equipment used in the treatment of Breast cancer in Mayo General Hospital. Castlebar Chamber are pleased to be supporting this very worthwhile cause and the Chamber Social Committee are busy planning what promises to be an unforgettable night! All will be revealed at a press reception to launch "The Black and White Ball" in the Welcome Inn on Wednesday September 10th at 7.30pm.
