. Feast
of our lady of the holy rosary 7th October 2000 Next
Saturday, the Feast of the Holy Rosary is also the anniversary of the opening
of our Church in Castlebar 99 years ago.
The east window of the Church over the high altar was made in Munich,
Germany in 1900 and depicts the 15 mysteries of the Rosary. The
Rosary as a form of prayer has declined in recent years. However it is still a wonderful form of
prayer. It is biblical, meditating on
the mysteries of Christ’s life, and that of His Blessed Mother. It is a community prayer in which everyone
can join in, even children. This week coming do try and pray the Rosary or part of it, at home sometime during the day. The Rosary is recited every day in the Church after 10a.m. Mass, and also in the evening at 6.30p.m. - the latter especially for the sick. At the end of each Mass during the coming week a decade of the Joyful Mysteries will be recited. |
