I totally condemn this thuggery aswell, but the point everyone is eluding to is that this is not about anti-americanism, this is about not being from castlebar or the surrounding areas, its about narrow mindness, its about kids growingup never seeing outside of their own little town or village. All late nite restaurants have the same problem, drunken idiots from outside town usually who cause all the problems, those from castlebar have family and friends in the town and everyone knows them so their not going to cause trouble unless their physically provoked. Its sad about the basketball players and hopefully this wont leave a bad impression of the town in people's eyes, for the most every town or village has its low lifes and its only when the gardai start hitting back that the trouble will stop, another option is to close the fast food restaurants at 12.30 to avoid the congregation of drunken louts..
Its going to be someone else next week, that maybe was too tall or wore the wrong colour of shirt or had long hair.etc....There will always be the narrow minded....
