i remember Bernie Pluck. The family lived around Shruffaun area and later moved to St. Patrick's Avenue. Bernie was a prominent member of the drama group in St. Mary's. I went to school with Mickey Pluck and I also remember Larry and Ollie, who may have worked in the spare parts department in Josie Bourke's garage. I could be wrong but Bernie's wife carried out a dressmaking business. She may have been formerly Hopkins from the Burren area. Bernie's father, Paddy Pluck, served with the British Army in India and I believe he played international hockey for Ireland. He wore a moustache and was always very quick in the step, typical army style. The Plucks were a lovely family. They emigrated to England many years ago. Anyone remember Hubert Dupré, a psychiatric nurse, who lived in Staball. Sounds like a French name.
