Sadly, far too short a visit. It was good to see plentiful evidence of wealth and wellbeing - long may it last. Castle Street and parts of Main Street were not looking their best but I expect that will change. Overall, 'old Castlebar' is readily recognizable and I'm glad it has been preserved. The bridge at Market Square looks awfully small now, a far cry from when small paper boats were dropped into the river by children coming home from school, or when bluffer and friends debated the singing styles of the beatles on the bridge.
