Michael Morgan

Posted by OULD STOCK on September 28, 2005 at 20:22:07:

Michael Morgan, who has died in the Sacred Heart Hospital, lived in St. Bridget's Crescent, Castlebar, for many years. As a young man he was a cattle drover and walked all over Mayo, in all kinds of weather, driving cattle to and from fairs, long before the cattle marts. In later years he worked in Josie Bourke's garage, Ellison Street. Mike liked to talk about the simple yet important things in life: the changing seasons, the weather, livestock. He lived through difficult times and was left with a young family when he wife, formerly Mary Morley, died a young woman. Mike took life in his stride; he was a kind, inoffensive man who always dressed well, with a friendly smile for all. He never spoke ill of anyone and was loved and respected. Sympathy to Padraig, Michael and Johnny. Burial takes place in the Old Cemetery today, Thursday, after Mass. Mike will be remembered with great affection.
