Like Tempus, I have fond memories of Madam Bourke (often referred to as Madam De Burca). I went to school with her son Sean, a wonderful all-round musician who played with Brose Walsh and other bands over the years. Sean and his sister Mary are thankfully still with us. Madam Bourke's husband, Walter, a very well read gentleman, worked in Rattigans of Castle Street with his brother John. She was formerly McLynskey from Main Street. The McLynskey family ran two businesses on the street many years ago. Joe McLynskey was a very witty, humorous man and ran the businesses with his brother Willie. Met one of Joe's daughers in Castlebar some years ago. Home from California.
