I remember watching TV before RTE started broadcasting in a neighbour's house. Snow on the screen and a skillful 10-year old narrator made us all believe that we were watching a cowboy film. The Emperor's new clothes syndrome meant that no one contradicted him - very few had ever seen TV before but we went away a bit disappointed with this new-fangled TV thingummy.

It's a bit like the Internet - it will never catch on!
