Bet not too many have heard of the word "replivinger".It's a legal position which became obsolete in the 1920's and would be the eqivalent of a "sheriff" nowdays.He ( no women appointed ) would have to recover possession of goods, until a legal judgement was determined.A number of people would be appointed from the large towns in Mayo and work under the direction of the High Sheriff for County Mayo. |
