When i was young in the 1960's i used play here, we called it"The Rocks". There were a number of small caves or maybe they were badger's sets!

Loughrans Bros. John(Newtown St) and his brother Raymond(Turlough) had a limestone quarry here. It was later used as a landfill by Castlebar UDC.
