Although im not of the era your talking about (ie Pre 1980) those woods were still a play area for my friends and i right up till the mid 90's. We spent summer days there from 9 in th morning till dusk fell. Either building huts in the dense forest or building rafts out on the small lake. I know that was probably dangerous but who thinks of that when your 12. There was also an old building on the stretch of grass that seperates the lake from the forest. Maybe it had something to do with the dump that was there but, for our enjoyment it was a look out tower which the British erected to prevent any further attacks coming down Sion Hill by the French.
