I can remember being in Cafollas for someone's birthday once, the yellow vinyl chairs where not uncool at the time and the burger and chips were great fare though a rare treat (not like nowadays).

I can also remember watching black smoke pouring from the front door one day when a chip fryer was supposed to have caught alight and watching the fire brigade arrive and save the day.

Can't remember when the frontage was upgraded to the wooden facade for Bernardo's (complete with gondolas, I think) but I don't think I really frequented the place after Caffola's Take Away opened on Castle Street and then later we got Chipadorra (on Rush Street opposite Garavan's - Davitt Restaraunt - Tipsy Toad - Bar One) and then the Chinese came to town with exciting and exotic things like Prawn Crackers and Spring Rolls and sure after that our arteries never looked back :-)
