I agree MM. Great snaps. The one of Main St is amazing. No traffic problems then. I think the initiative for the lighting scheme came from the Council and I think Bob Kilkely was an organiser. Perhaps Kilkelly`s erected the system. There were very fancy lanterns on Ellison St and between the trees on the Mall. I think the scheme may have been overambitious and insufficient funding led to it`s demise. The erection of a Christmas tree was a Ramblers Club initiative which commenced about 68 or 69
