gallaghers

Hello just wondering if there are any Gallagher descendants still living in the area? My grandfather was Christopher Gallagher (named as Gollaker on his birth certificate!). He was born in Salford, Manchester in 1900. His father was Patrick Gallagher, born Swinford approximately 1856/1860. Patrick married Mary Wignall in Garston, Liverpool in 1889. On his wedding certificate, Patricks father is named as John Gallagher, deceased general labourer.

Does anybody recognise this family or can point me in the direction of anybody who might? I have been searching for more information for my mum, Shirley Gallagher, for many years now and she would be delighted if I could find anything for her.

Is it true that Irish families followed a naming pattern and if so was this strictly adhered to? Patrick and Mary had a baby girl born in 1892 who they named Annie, although she died the following year. Then in 1895, they had another girl, Mary. I know that Mary's mother was called Mary, so would this fit in with any naming pattern and would this indicate that Patricks mother was named Ann? My grandfather was the next and last child born, and he was named Christopher - was this a common name in 1900?

Any help would be much, much, much appreciated!!

Thanks and best wishes

Carol x
