It appears that the banquet was held in the town hall according to Tom Higgins in his "Through Fagans Gates""a celebration banquet was prepared in the Billiards room.Upwards of two hundred guests sat down to dinner. The room was gorgeously decorated, the tables all laid out in linen, with silver and china and sumptuous food in abundance. The menu card containing a portrait of Canon Lyons and a picture of the new Church, was reputed to be a work of art"
Amazing! I would really like to know who actually catered it.Anyone know ? Such a contrast to stories of the famine which occured only 50 or so odd years before. Canon Lyons died a pauper in 1911.
