The pain has never gone away. I remember one day we used bonnets from scrap cars someone had liberated from some local garage as sleds. They flew down the hill and it really is a wonder no one was seriously injured. When we got back the following day, the bonnets were gone and replaced with large plastic bags from the bacon factory, the long ones used for sides of bacon. We were unaware of the tenderness of our rumps caused by the metal sleds so when we took off on the plastic, the pain was unbearable and we could not stop until we ran out of hill. No more sleddding that winter!
