I remember Frank Beckett's well, sold tobacco, pen knives, etc. The story was told that Frank was always open early in the morning, so that those working in St. Mary's hospital could buy their cigarettes and tobacco on the way to work. However, it happened that one morning, a very rare occasion, the bould Frank slept in. A note was pinned to the door by one wag which read: " No cause to woryy, he is not dead but sleepeth"!
