Though in my time of living and working in the Dublin in the '90s you'd be hard pressed to hear the national anthem in many venues at the end of a night. In fact I think my Jackeen friends used to think it was quite 'quaint' that we all stood and observed it and the end of the night in Castlebar nite clubs and at weddings, etc.

It's playing is on the decline for a long time because people here are still a little confused as to the pride they should have in their heritage, was nationalism really something to be proud of is a debate that continues to rage but for people who are doing their best to service exorbitant mortgages and make a few quid care less and less about such things.
