Yes the grounds,and house looked picturesque in Spencer Park,but alas the Cllrs.at that time did
not have the foresight(or guts)to purchase the
property from the Jennings family.Picture it now
as a place for towns people,and visitors alike to stroll in it's grounds,with the period house tastefully renovated.Just look at what is there
now(appartments),with many old oak trees cut down since.So much for Castlebars heritage,
including the Convent.
