Thanks for that, I hadn`t heard that particular story before but it does not surprise me. Both of those gentlemen were quite fond of their sup of an evening, The Green Olive springs to mind, is it still there? Going way back I remember a pub, Duffy`s at the bottom of Mc Hale Road, I think it was also a petrol station (Caltex)?
You are spot on about them working in Barcastle Bacon Co. I remember the yellow and black Commer vans vividly. The grandfather also used to look after the pump house in Saleen which supplied water to the factory, the pump house was on the point as we called it, our favourite swimming and fishing spot.
You still have not answered my question, how did you make the connection between the Lacys and the Gavins??
