Merciful hour Mary but you have a powerful memory indeed. But then, it is amazing as we llok back how people of our generation learned whole swathes of Latin without having the faintest idea of what it meant. Think of the responses that we learned to serve Mass (admittedly confined to the male species in those days). 40 years on (and I swear, without checking any of it out in an old prayer book or whatevee), I can still remember most of it by heart.

"Introibo ad altare Dei"

"Ad Deum qui laetificat juventutem meum"

"Iudice me Dei et discerne causam meam de gente non sancta ab omni et deliquo er dolosoro erue me"

"Quia Tu est Deus, fortitudo mea, quare me repulisti er quare trisis incedo dum affligit me inimicus?"

May have got some of that wrong, but at least we were lucky enough to have learned some Latin later at secondary school. There were some good classics scolars around in our time.
