Whether or not Margaret Burke-Sheridan became pompous in her old age is a matter of indifference. The fact is she is probably the most well known personage that Castlebar has produced. Her house should remain a listed building. What about a plaque on Louis Brennan's old home in Main Street, and another on the home of Richard King the artist, at Barrack Bridge, a house that is falling into a dreadful state. These famous people should be remembered and honoured in the town.
