In October 1948,at a packed meeting held in the Courthouse, Castlebar Clay Pigeon Club was formally established.Michael Heverin was appointed Chairman and the officers were: President Mr. W.Wilcox,Turlough; Chairman Ml. Heverin; Treasurer Mr. F.McDonnell,Castlebar; & Secretary Mr. T.F.Baynes,Castlebar. Committee members were Messrs.J.Gallagher,W.Lavelle,Thomas Wilcox and D.Ryan.
Annual subscription was fixed at 2/6 and they held their shootings in McHale Park.
