a cara.....thank you for your affirmation.....when i first started school i was escaorted by my brother sean to mrs. mcdonagh....i hated that first school experience....and so i mitched every day after that first day for about a week....the road from luddens hill to spencer street was been tarred....there were stone crushers and steam rollers....and green caravans for co.council workers parked at the wall at simms field......i used to go behind the machinery and trailers by mcevillys and wander into the plantation in simms....my hideout was safe for about a half hour ....somebody would inform my father of my wherabouts...and i'd be marched down to school ...in double time....perhaps with a dance in my step....from a sally .....only to arrive at the school to receive more of the same from mrs. mcdonagh......and indeed i struggled with those early days....and it was not softened by mrs mc donagh playing the harmonium.....the thing i remember the most was mrs. mcdonagh's class....had a wall of mini blackboards....my next mitching experience was walking down to school with kevin omalley...harry farrell mick lacey lacey....it was suggested we not go to school but stay at the club house in market square.....this was a private pool room and club....that kevins dad looked after.....here i got my first introduction to pool...and billiards....which was very popolar in castlebar ....the catholic club had a pool hall on linehall street....i did many things on halloween ....and removing gates from the railings was certainly one of them....although never at my own house....why not there.....well the gate was always half hanging on...and the support was bent around the "hinge"...so it could never be fully removed....my next segment will recall how frank deasy and i had a meeting on castle lane we both would never forget....
anois ....slan....agus ....tog go bog e.....
