a cara..........i remember the fanfare well that surrounded judge durcans first sitting as a circuit court judge....judge durcan was brother to tommy durcan local merchant....another member of the family.....rode shotgun over social services....i rember mick gavin , myself and harry farrell going to a trial.....here was fitzgerald kenny in all his finery .....and state solicitor thoronton.....in battle in a rather unique case ....a supposed rape case and indecent exposure case......a scottish guy came to westport... and it was alleged he assaulted two girls in westport....the news of the world which...incidentally was banned in those days ...but copies always filtered in to the country ...had a reporter on hand and the following sunday his story was heralded with bold title.....sedge in hedge ...lushes rushes in the bushes....nudist in westport....the arguments were theatrical as ....fitzgerald kenny held up a pair of underwear.....in raised voice he demanded.....are those the knickers.....those performances were academy deserving....back to spencer street....
