a cara.....continuing spencer street....buddy stautons garage on spencer street..was a buesy garage in my day ....cars went under the arch and mr. staunton ....and one of the mc donnell boys gave a great repair service....back in those days ....why ...heaven forbid ....no tv....limited radio....few phones and certainly ....cell phones would have been considered a thought of scifi.....buddy was quite the story teller.....and during the war he and his wife were ....quite the ...samaritans.....they gave a home and refuge to two german children.....karl and gerda wheymere......karl and i were great friends....despite the fact in 1949 .....he broke my jaw....yes ....broke my jaw.....the infamy and heinous nazi regime had not quite registered with impact on my brain....although a regular feature in the cinema was the news reel .....the march of time....which gave us some insights into the raging war in continental europe.....well ....back to my broken jaw...in my school days i was nicknamed tarzan....and reputed for my fearlessness.....karl and i were proving our toughness.....when....i gave him a hitler salute....heil hitler......theres a hackneyed expression....."i know nothing ".....well after my insensitive remark ...karl wound up and ....kaboom....to the moon....he hit me a punch under the jaw....and i knew nothing....i gushered in blood......and was out.....i was brought to the county....and was admitted with a broken jaw and blood clott on my throat.....it was much later i learned the seriousness of my remark.....but i will say this did not mar our great frienship....he came to see me in hospital every day.....later on in the fifties when he and gerda were returned to germany i was very upset,,,,la eile...deire an sceil seo....ac anois....
